"I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."
The phrase, “living sacrifice”, literally means that we are to offer ourselves completely to God on a daily basis or, “die to self”. Paul’s urgent request for us may seem difficult to achieve. Our busy lives offer so many distractions. Long hours on the job, shuttling kids from activity to activity even church responsibilities consume our days. Few people would say they are happy with the time and effort they can spend focused on God. Even if our desire is to do better, progress seems impossible at times. But, by the grace of God, His Spirit lives in us and we now have a new nature in Jesus. As Paul explained to the Galatians, “it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me.” Therefore, the only way people won’t see Jesus through the believer is if we block their view with our old self.. In other words, every part of me I set aside reveals more of Christ. I happen to believe that Paul’s journey to Christianity started when he witnessed the stoning of Stephen. At the time he was a persecutor of the church so this was a huge victory for his cause. I don’t think Paul was moved by the bravery of Stephen, he had likely seen many martyrs die with dignity. But, in Stephen’s grace for his accusers, Paul saw Jesus. Every time we are able to set aside our pride and selfishness, Jesus is revealed. Like a fire, the slightest exposure will light a room or warm a heart. That is Worship!

At the beginning of 2013, God led us to focus our ministry on helping churches with special worship services and targeted events. What a blessing it has been! We have played all over central North Carolina in all types of venues. Thanks to all who have invited us to play. Special thanks to Cindy Bolden (our biggest supporter) and the staff of Westwood Baptist Church for their encouragement.
